DeCode is a 1.9 Easy Demon created by Rek3dge. It is one of the most popular Demons in the game. Though formerly considered incredibly difficult due to the novelty of the wave game mode, it is still considered a difficult Easy Demon for most new players.
Gameplay
- 0-10%: The level starts with a normal-speed cube section that contains a few pretty easy timings.
- 10-24%: Next, the level transitions into a double-speed ship sequence that requires decent straight flying skills. It then switches to an easy upside-down UFO segment. The player then briefly switches back into a cube with two jumps and goes through a couple of gravity portals.
- 24-36%: This starts up a double-speed wave segment, which can prove difficult for players.
- 36-48%: Afterward, the level transitions into a double-speed ball segment with some fairly difficult timings and fake lines. At the end of the section, the numbers "1, 2, 3, 4" flash up.
- 48-76%: Following this, the song drops, and the player transitions into a triple-speed cube section featuring a large number of moderately difficult timings and fakes. The level then transitions into a UFO segment with frequent gravity changes. This section is difficult, as it requires lots of well-timed clicks. After this, the player switches back into a cube, which is much easier than the previous sections.
- 76-84%: Afterwards, the player transitions into a slow but very tight wave section.
- 84-91%: The player then switches into a half-speed ship sequence with gravity changes.
- 91-100%: The last section of DeCode involves a normal-speed mini-cube with lots of easy-to-time jumps scattered over the course of two "block mazes". Finally, the level ends with Rek3dge's name.
Fails
- ChristianPlaysGD crashed at 92%.
- JuDeMGD crashed at 84%, 91% twice, and 96%.
Trivia
- The level cannot be copied.
- The level contains 11,832 objects.
- The level is 1m 12s in length.
- The level is the 17th most liked and 25th most downloaded Demon level.
- The hardest parts of DeCode are considered to be the triple-speed gravity switching UFO segment and the half-speed wave segment. The wave segment's difficulty is nothing compared to the majority of newer levels, but it was very hard at the time.
- DeCode was one of the levels TheMuteTroll used to expose Geometry Dash hackers like Noobas in his famous video.[1]
- DeCode was hacked by Anaban and became a free Demon but was later restored.
- Flukester, a relatively unknown creator with some rated levels, made a remake of the level called FinalCode in 2.1, and it became the 24th Weekly Demon. It is mostly easier than DeCode, but the iconic slow wave has frequent speed changes, making it harder than the original slow wave of DeCode.
- Rek3dge has made a sequel to DeCode called DeCodeX.
- A player named Noice on the Geometry Dash Forums loves this level so much that, in 2019, he declared March 11 to be "International DeCode Day".[2] This caught on in the community, with players now celebrating the occasion every year.
- RobTop himself seems to acknowledge the existence of DeCode Day, as he made DeCode the Weekly Demon on March 11, 2021.
- spaceuk beat DeCode as his first Demon, before Windy Landscape, Leyak, Wasureta, and The Golden.
- Russian Geometry Dash YouTuber DeCody got the idea for his nickname from this level, using a portmanteau of the level DeCode and iconic creator Cody.
